Food Trucks

 

Special Note: Food trucks are on hiatus while we make some exciting changes and will be back on Tuesday, September 8th.

Food Trucks will be available Monday - Friday from 11am - 4pm on the Library West Commons (adjacent to lot 06) by the Marriott Library. Trucks will rotate daily with some old favorites and new visitors to campus! The accepted truck tender is: credit card and/or Flex+.

Research Park

At the Research Park area, several food trucks and dining locations operate daily, serving the U community. The following brands already have contracts in place with the university:

  • Knickerbockers at 421 Wakara Way
  • Subway at 675 Arapeen Drive
  • University Park Marriott (Starbucks and dine-in options) at the Salt Lake City Marriott University Park
  • U Hungry Café at 540 Arapeen Drive
  • Natural History Museum Canyon Café at 301 Wakara Way

Food trucks can also cater your event! For booking there are two options:

1. Book any of the established University partners who have been vetted and meet the University’s insurance and safety requirements.

2. Book an available vendor from the Food Truck League

Reserving a Food Truck

To use one of the contracted food trucks mentioned on this page, you may reach out to them independently for your campus event. Once reserved, please be sure to submit a special event application through Astra to reserve the physical space for your event.

If none of the university-contracted trucks are available or do not offer the type of food you want to serve, it is possible to use an outside vendor. However, to do so, the department must follow the steps outlined below.

    1. Submit a special event application through Astra to reserve the physical space. As part of this process, you will be required to submit a supplementary Food Truck Review. (You will need to have information on the truck size, weight, intended location, and proposed path of travel, along with plans for trash removal)
    2. Fill out the U of U Temporary Food Service Agreement with the outside food truck vendor, and they must read and abide by the Food Truck Policies.
    3. Obtain a Certificate of Liability Insurance (COI) from the outside food truck vendor, with per occurrence limits of at least $1,000,000 and general aggregate limits of at least $2,000,000, and which lists the University of Utah as an additional insured party on the Commercial General Liability insurance policy.
    4. File for a Vendor Sidewalk Permit with Commuter Services at least 48 hours prior to your event.
