Policies

Kahlert Village and PHC are the All You Care To Eat (AYCTE) dining venues on campus. The Following Policies apply to both locations:

    1. Must present a valid University ID Virtual or Card with a valid dining plan to the Cashier – Self Check In is NOT Permitted
    2. ID must match the individual presenting the ID. Dining cashiers will confirm that the University ID that is being presented belongs to the individual attempting to enter the dining facility – Dining Plans are NOT transferable
    3. A valid meal swipe/tap must be recorded into the Point of Sale or pay the posted applicable door rate - Breakfast $17.00 Lunch & Diner $19.50
    4. Additional Door Rates
      • Faculty/Staff with valid university ID – Breakfast $15.00, Lunch and Dinner $17.00
      • Military and First Responders – Breakfast $10.50, Lunch & Dinner $15.00
      • Children Under 11 – Breakfast $5.00, Lunch & Dinner $7.00
      • Children Under 5 – No Charge
    5. Anyone who does not meet the requirements as stated above must seek approval from Dining Services on site Management before entering the dining areas
    6. No personal transportation devices such as Bikes, Hover Boards, Scooters etc. are permitted inside the dining areas
    7. Skateboards may be stored in the skateboard racks if space is available

    Once inside the dining areas, menu options are served on an all you care to eat basis.

    1. All food items must be consumed inside the dining areas
    2. No personal To-Go containers are allowed to be used in the dining area to include:
      1. Personal Drink Containers
      2. Personal Food Bags
      3. Personal Food Wrapping
      4. Personal Food Containers
    3. No food items or drinks can be taken outside the dining areas for later consumption
  • QR Code Ordering is an additional service extended to all dining guests that follow QR Code Ordering Procedures:

    1. One QR Code order per every 30 min
    2. QR Code orders must be retrieved within 10 minutes of the text alert to pick up has been sent
    3. QR Code Orders not retrieved within the 10-minute allowance may be pulled from the pickup area, discarded and considered “Abandoned Orders”.
  • Abandoned Order Policy

    1. 1st Abandoned order = QR Order Account Suspended
    2. Account may be reinstated immediately following a conversation with a Dining Services Manager
    3. 2nd Abandoned order = QR Order Account Suspended - 7 Days
    4. Account may be reinstated immediately following the 7 Day suspension by speaking with a Dining Services Manager
    5. 3rd Abandoned order = QR Order Account Suspended – Permanently
    6. Account turned over to HDP Disciplinary Process

    Dining Services reserves the right to suspend QR Code Ordering privileges to anyone who does not adhere to QR Code Ordering Policy.

  • To-Go Meals are permitted from Kahlert Village and PHC. All To-Go meals MUST be served in a Dining Service provided food container – Eco Container. All Dining Plan Members have one Eco Container credit assigned to their membership. Non-Dining Plan Members are not permitted access to the To-Go meal option.

    To access the To-Go meal option Dining Plan Members are required to adhere to the following process:

    1. Dining Plan Member informs the cashier they would like to use the To-Go option for their meal prior to swiping/tapping into the dining area
    2. The cashier will swipe/tap for the meal and provide the Eco Container to the Dining Plan Member
    3. A To-Go meal swipe/tap will deduct a meal, automatically assign the physical Eco Container to the Dining Plan Member and reduce the Eco Container credit from one to zero
    4. The Cashier will mark the time of entry
    5. Dining Plan Members are allotted 20 minutes to gather the To-Go meal
    6. Dining Plan Members that exceed the 20-minute gathering time will be subject to having an additional meal deducted from their dining plan or pay the posted door rate
    7. Dining Plan Members using the meal to go option are NOT permitted to dine in the dining area. This includes casual grazing
    8. Dining Plan Members with their To-Go Meal must return to the cashier to mark the time of exit.
    9. All food items assembled as the To-Go meal must fit inside the container with the lid closed
    10. Food items assembled as the To-Go meal should be reasonable – Intended to be a meal for same day consumption not a food pack-out
    11. Dining Plan Members are responsible for the proper food temperature control process of the To-Go meal
    12. Consumed within 2 hours of collection or held below 40 degrees for no more than 3 days
    13. Dining Plan Members must return the USED Eco Container (in good condition but does not have to be washed) to the cashier to receive an Eco Container credit or before another To-Go meal can be ordered
    14. Dining Plan Members can return USED Eco Containers to Dining Services at any time
    15. Dining Plan Members are allowed a Dine-In Meal and a To-Go Meal in the same meal period through the following process:
    16. Dining Plan Member swipes into Dining Facility for Dine-In Meal
    17. Dining Plan Member exits Dining Facility and follows the To-Go Meal Policy for the To-Go Meal
    18. Only 1 Eco Container credit or Eco Container per Dining Plan Member is permitted
    19. Lost/Stolen or Damaged Eco Containers may be replaced for $11.00 – Cash/Debit/Credit Only

    Individual Dining Plan Members that abuse or violate the To-Go Meal Policy will have their Eco Container option suspended from their membership.

  • Transactions that require access to HDP or U of Utah Dining Accounts require the use of a valid/active U ID Card or U ID Virtual Card

    1. The ID must be used for the transaction
    2. Verbal U ID Numbers will not be accepted
    3. Picture of U ID not tied to a valid dining plan account will not be accepted
    4. The U ID must belong to the person making the transaction
    5. Value of Dining Accounts cannot be transferred to individuals not named on the account
  • University Identification Being Used Outside of U ID Transaction Policies Will Be:

    1. Retained by U of U Dining Administration
    2. Individuals will be referred to HDP conduct office
  • Failure to follow instructions from a Dining Services Manager or Supervisor may result in escalation to the University Police Department.

    1st Offense

    1. Offender’s Name and UID along with a description of the offense are recorded in the Daily Operations Logbook located at each operation
    2. Daily Operations Logbook Data is uploaded to the Master Dining Policy Violation Log and shared with the Dean of Students Office
    3. Financial Restitution (if required) for the offence is charged and payment made using non-dining plan tenders at the time of the offense or discovery of the offence

    2nd Offense

    1. Offender’s Name and UID along with a description of the offense are recorded in the Daily Operations Logbook located at each operation
    2. Daily Operations Logbook Data is uploaded to the Master Dining Policy Violation Log and shared with the Dean of Students Office
    3. Financial Restitution (if required) for the offence is charged by Dining Services and payment made using non-dining plan tenders at the time of the offense or discovery of the offence
    4. The offense is referred to the Dean of Students Office for further action

    3rd Offense

    1. Offender’s Name and UID along with a description of the offense are recorded in the Daily Operations Logbook located at each operation
    2. Daily Operations Logbook Data is uploaded to the Master Dining Policy Violation Log and shared with the Dean of Students Office
    3. Financial Restitution (if required) for the offence is charged by Dining Services and payment made using non-dining plan tenders at the time of the offense or discovery of the offence
    4. The offense is referred to the Dean of Students Office for further action
    5. Access to dining areas will be suspended for the remainder of the semester
  • Dining dollars and Faculty/Staff dining plan will be removed if they are inactive for more than 6 months.
